The Ministry of Education will invest NIS 30 million in educational institutions in Kiryat Shmona
The Ministry of Education will allocate tens of millions of shekels to strengthen buildings, add and upgrade classrooms in schools in Kiryat Shmona, as was agreed this week at a working meeting held at the mayor's office.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Ilanit Shoshani - Director of the Construction and Development Division of the Ministry of Education, Yaron Ofir - Senior Engineer, Wissam Basil - Consultant and Inspector for Strengthening Buildings were present at the meeting.
After presenting the topic of the municipality's preparedness and preparation for an earthquake scenario, it was agreed that the Ministry of Education will quickly advance all the plans of the schools in the city to strengthen buildings for an earthquake.
It was also agreed on a peripheral and deep renovation of the Branko Weiss High School. The Ministry of Education will budget for the renovation works at approximately two million shekels.
Also, the mayor's request to carry out development work for the Gonim school and increase classes was approved.
In addition, the repair of a collapsed retaining wall at the "Hefetz Haim" school was approved, as well as the approval of an exit to strengthen the second phase at the "Danziger" school.
Mayor Nissim Malka: "We are constantly preparing for emergency situations, including the scenario of an earthquake. I thank the Ministry of Education for responding positively to my request and allocating tens of millions of shekels to strengthen buildings and improve schools in the city."
